Hey folks, let’s get straight into it.
Check out the

for an updated, all around better experience on how to learn and play guitar by ear!
—————————————————————————————————————
This badass blues track is fun to jam along to when you get the riff down. If you know the
pentatonic scale
, start with step #1. If not, go learn it. It is fundamental to the blues.
1
. Listen to the riff and try to play it by ear [5 mins]
2
. Watch the riff (1 minute max) for general hand placement and motion, try again [10 mins]
3
. Watch the video, copy, re-wind, play at reduced speed [5 mins]
Break it down in sections and build it up until you can play the entire riff. Once you get notes of the riff down, work on your rhythm with a metronome or use a
drum machine
to copy the beat and play along in time.
If you’re looking to let loose and jam along to the track, I dig this version by the Rolling Stones.
